Misogyny and organisation studies

SMASH welcomes Dr Lauren McCarthy for her talk ‘Misogyny & Organisation Studies’.
Drawing on feminist philosopher Kate Manne’s understanding of misogyny as a social practice that functions to police women, this presentation introduces the concepts of ‘organised’ and ‘organisational’ misogyny. It discusses what these look like empirically, drawing on examples such as the Manosphere, and the London Metropolitan police. It concludes by explaining how ‘misogyny’ can be analytically helpful for the study of social relations in organisations.
Dr McCarthy is Director of ETHOS: The Centre for Responsible Enterprise at Bayes Business School.
